Foodie Review: Jean Pierre Sancho
Yesterday I was out and about in the city and like every time my mother and I are out together, we go on a search for cafes and restaurants that we haven't tried. Yesterday's choice was Jean Pierre Sancho.
Jean Pierre Sancho from the outside, appears to be cutesy and quiet but on the inside, it is so much more than that. It is quirky and classic with a steady flow of customers around lunch time and the staff are very friendly and accomodating. It is a French themed patisserie that has only recently (by recent, I mean 7 years) been active in Australia. Having originally been owned in France, this cafe is a perfect arrangement for the ever-growing culture in Perth.
My mother ordered a custard flan cake and a long mac and I ordered a chocolate cake slice with a Hatsu ginger and lemon iced tea. *A handy thing with our order was that we got it cheaper with a coffee and cake of the day special.*
Price: Decent
Atmosphere: Friendly and comfortable
Style: Quaint and classic
Music: Oh my god, they were playing nothing but the Red Hot Chilli Peppers! How fantastic is that?
The piece of cake I had was rather large and while I wasn't too keen on the buttery substance between the layers, it was tasty. A little dry around parts of the cake and mostly suited to an absolute sweet tooth.
The custard flan cake that my mother had ordered wasn't sickly sweet and was baked to perfection. The coffee was of high quality- no cons about it.
Tables are decently sized, food is served on ACTUAL plates and there are window seats available with enough distance from the next person.
This was a beautiful place to sit for a coffee and cake and I would recommend it to anyone who just so happens to be scouring the St. George's Terrace in search of an appropriately priced feed in a relaxing place.
Rating: 4/5.
