Dexter: Season Five- Review
So apparently a lot of people didn't like this season and I can understand that. This season follows on like any other season of Dexter, another murderer and another piece of Dexter's life unveiled. However, now becomes more a pattern of Dexter's vulnerability chipping away. He's human after all, so these upcoming and final seasons now paint Dexter into a more humanistic light, less domineering and a sturdy plot that is continuous in showing how and why Dexter came to be what he is.
However, elements of what is shown throughout this season contradict your general idea of what a psychopath is, particularly confusion; something Dexter faces greatly in this season.
In this season, Dexter comes to grips with the aftermath of last season, hunts down and kills another grotesque murderer and narrowly escapes the noses of corrupt personnel in his department.
I did really enjoy the introduction of a new character, Lumen. She's played by the well known Julia Stiles and as predicted, does a very good job. She's damaged, afraid and is used most effectively here to open up Dexter's vault of vulnerability. I really liked her ability to be an independent and strong character but also one that could enhance our main character further.
Score: 8/10.
