After a leave of 'personal' absence, DCI Tom Mathias is forced to return to slap in the face he knows as work, after a new crime takes place.
This season also offers a more personal look at DCI Mathias and preview of a select few of the skeletons hidden within his closet.
A little less grisly than the first season, it still maintains a brutal look at fresh murders and the aftershock it has on the mental health and wellbeing on not only families or the community, but also on the investigators working to solve the crime.
I found myself feeling waves of devastation as the show progressed and some episodes were just so hard hitting that I couldn't contain a few stray tears.
A good show never ceases to break interest and always works to rock the audience in a variety of ways. Hinterland does just this as it returns for the second instalment.
