Naked- Review
Substitute teacher and soon-to-be-married , Rob Anderson finds himself in a never ending, downward spiral as a twisted Bachelor's party somehow goes wrong.
Naked falls short of any plot significance with minor laughs and a mediocre dialogue. Note: See Groundhog Day for reference.
Directed by Michael Tiddes, it features Marlon Wayans, Scott Foley and Regina Hall.
Netflix does it again, butchering their original films. I don't think there's been a single Netflix Original film that I have enjoyed and am a firm believer that they should stick to creating their own TV series' instead. I can't speak for what Michael Tiddes was thinking, but this mess of a film just didn't achieve anything. My expectations before watching this film? None, aside from the fact that I thought it wouldn't be great. That was an understatement.
On another note, the repetitive storyline. Its as if Groundhog Day and Happy Death Day are creating influences for films. Neither are good concepts. They're boring, tired and predictable.
There's a pretty youthful cast in this film, despite the fact that most of the actors are within the 40-70 age range. I'm so disappointed to be seeing Marlon Wayans in this film. There was no way he could make this film any better. It's evident that he was trying to carry this film but how could he successfully achieve this with an overused, boring storyline that could essentially cause someone career suicide? In all honesty (and perhaps the point anyway), he was the only actor that could bring a few laughs. They were good laughs but the par for comedy just wasn't there.
This was a really ridiculous film and I suggest you all avoid it if possible. Regardless of whether you go into this movie with or without a clue, it won't make a difference and perhaps even leave you as disappointed as you expected to be. This film lacks originality, comedy and even just general significance. An example of this would be to say "how the hell did Rob Anderson even land his teaching role?" or "how'd he meet this woman he's supposed to be marrying?"
Don't waste your time. Choose another film...without the Netflix Original film logo on it.
Score: 3/10.
