Dexter: Season One- Review

Dexter is a twisted and compelling crime drama mystery that takes the audience behind the scenes of a seemingly normal blood spatter analysis specialist and into his brooding and equally twisted life of past and present.

Dexter Morgan by day is a forensic technician in the field of blood spatter analysis and by night, the literal boogeyman...within reason. By nature, his lack of empathy and ability to display human-like emotions make him an essential piece to Miami PD but in his intimate life, put him under a socially awkward and unsettled persona.

This show feeds any interest and curiosity that an audience might have in regards to what goes on behind closed doors within our most trusted places of authority. The ideas of inside conspiring, murder and lies float around so meticulously and creatively that it makes for one hell of a viewing pleasure.

This season doesn't rely too heavily on gore or the over dramatisation of murder to the point of becoming unrealistic and that's what makes it so brilliant. A perfect crime show doesn't need to rest so heavily on its violence. The characters are so strong and the actors behind them deliver outstanding performances so much so, that's all the show really does rest on.

Score: 9/10.
