Life beyond high school resumes for Scott and his friends in this two-part season. Old wounds heal, old enemies prove themselves and supernatural and non-supernatural beings learn to coexist.
Considering that I have now finished the entirety of this series, I feel it's best if I describe everything I've liked, disliked and learnt from this show. To start off with, I really enjoyed the casting choices. Each and every actor that made some form of a major appearance really gave their all in becoming their fictional being, some making their roles so believable that for one second one might believe that a werewolf could live amongst them (not really, but some acting was just that flawless). By the time the show ended, I felt a great weight lift off me, almost as if the pressure of diving deep down was lifted from me. That's what it feels like to invest in something completely.
However, there weren't always moments where I felt praise for the show. I noticed that in some of the seasons that contained two parts, one part was always stronger than the other, making it seem like a complete let down. I also maintain that season three was the best.
I think this show is suitable to most audiences but probably a target area for teenagers. There's just that whole glamour about being a 'unique high school kid' with a rebellious lifestyle that seems to appeal to children of that age. So in parts, I felt it was kind of cliché.
Finally, please don't go into this show expecting it to be anything like the 80s movie. If you do, it'll either come as a disappointment or improve your expectations. It all depends on what kind of person you are and whether or not you enjoy people borrowing ideas from older creations and re-vamping them. That being said, I didn't really have a problem with the borrowed ideas...just the occasional viewing with me sitting on the couch a couple of times saying "I don't remember THAT happening in the movie." You get the idea.
