Broadchurch resumes in its second season to continue the investigation involving the murder of Dorset boy, Daniel Latimer. As the case becomes tedious and overpowering for the various parties involved, DI Hardy preoccupies himself with the Sandbrook case.
Being able to see connections between two different polices cases in this season really helped to further paint the character backgrounds, particularly DI Alec Hardy and this was constructed really well through the use of chopping the script back and forth every so often with snippets of the past (memories) and using both character perspectives and audience perspectives. The first season was brilliant in introducing the audience to the characters, the problem and the mystery following events but the second season is more engaging, thought provoking and really aids in giving the audience the ability to assume and debate.
Score: 8/10.
