Broadchurch: Season Three- Review
Featuring:
David Tennant
Olivia Coleman
I have been waiting ages for the third season to become available on Netflix in Australia and so they've only just included it. For this final season, old faces return and some new faces appear. A new crime occurs that proves more than a challenge for seasoned detectives DI Hardy and DS Millar.
This season started off a little slow. Most of that time was taken up by introducing the new characters, understanding their relations to older characters and picking up where we left off in the close knit community of Broadchurch. This season really focussed on a different issue and makes a point to the viewer that despite it not being under the umbrella of a murder investigation, it is still just as tedious and emotionally and physically taxing as what you would expect of a homicide. Some people might actually find this season a little hard to digest as some of the issues do hit particularly close to home.
I thoroughly enjoyed this show and obviously thought the performances of both David Tennant and Olivia Coleman were exceptional. Stepping away from the context, performances and themes present within each season, I also really admired the beautiful scenery they picked out. It almost made light of such tragic situations faced throughout and created some contrast between ugly and beautiful things in one's environment.
